With ATMs you can take out $1,200 or more each day. That's enough for most people. There are fees for a SWIFT transfer too but you will save money if you need to transfer larger amounts Transferring larger amounts seemed to be a concern for the person who started this thread.
Someone replied by saying that doing a SWIFT transfer of money "might work" if you don't have any family or friends. That is simply crazy. Frist, why test your family that way? And why trust your friends to remember - or forget - that you owe them some money from last year.
Doing a SWIFT transfer of money internationally is routine and normal. I transferred money that way to buy a condo in the Dominican Republic with no problem. Two weeks ago I sold the same condo and the buyer is doing something else to bring his money to my lawyer in DR. Heavens knows what? If he had used a SWIFT transfer my lawyer would have received the money by now and he would also have done another SWIFT transfer from DR to my Thai bank. I am waiting because the other guy did it the "old fashion way" per my lawyer. If my sale price is hidden in his suitcase or is coming by courier, I will be pissed. SWIFT transfer is easy, normal and puts no burden or depenency on relatives and friends. And, yes, I do not have a relative or friend whom I trust with the cash proceeds of the sale of my beach front condo.
BTW, although I am talking strongly here, I mean no offense. |
