I see your point Robbievienna (I did some time in Korea and knew friends that ended up in that boat too), but I still think "not paying" should be listed in the negative column, while "pays on time" is a reasonable thing to expect and under no circumstances should saying "we'll pay you" be listed like it's a benefit or a perk of some sort.

The definition of "work" is something than you get paid to do. Anyone who takes a job expects to be paid for it. By saying "Choueifat pays on time," we are basically saying that Choueifat does the bare minimum.

Absolutely true statement. What's sad is that there are schools here that don't do the the bare minimum. Scarier.

I had the great misfortune of moving from Sabis in Sharjah to Nibras in Dubai. I did not think I could sink any further than Sabis, but Nibras was a whole other dimension. They screwed the departing teachers so bad with their last pay, it will likely become a case study. There is a guy named Mourad there who thinks he runs the show - never seen a guy lie like he lied; pathological The accomodation they put you in is in the worst building in International City - Russia Complex. This building is right accross the street from the sewage plant and the environment is in a word, toxic. You will spend an hour and a half going to and coming from school in the van and what a waste of time it is.
Respiratory infections and other illnesses are rampant among those living in this dump. Mourad will try and tell you that they are looking into new accomodations but there is not a word of truth to any of it. Sabis accomodations are palacial compared to the Nibras cracker boxes. Nibras takes one bedroom apartments and converts them to 2 bedroom by turning the living room into a bedroom (leaving no living space).
So my fellow teachers, if you really want to experience the worst in living and teaching environments, give Nibras a try and after that, any and all schools will seem like heaven, even Sabis.

I'm confused. Is Choueifat a single school in Lebanon? A group of schools? Can the criticisms of those schools in Lebanon be fairly transferred to SABIS schools in other countries?

Sorry to say that after my years of reading posts and a few blogs about this group, that one made me laugh out loud. I doubt anyone here can tell you about the position. My take? First off, are you Lebanese? Do you have wasta with the upper management? If not, you will be in for some severe frustration. They are already convinced they have the most fabulous system ever!! Whereas all it is really good at is making lots of money for the main office. The teachers' pay is always at the bottom of the scale in each country and the majority of non-Arab teachers that they hire are absolute beginners because of that fact. Not that there aren't a number of places that are similarly bad and often for the same reasons.

With your credentials, why not go and work for a more professional educational institution. Sabis is for those who are desperate for a paycheck... any paycheck...
