Hi all,

I would like to strongly add to the words of warning here. I just quit my very enjoyable teaching job because of the behaviour of Sunny's English. I have too many examples to state here but basically they consistently lie, cheat and steal. Actually, my examples (if I could be arsed to list them) are much worse than the original poster and the way they treated my elder colleague is a disgrace. I am completely in love with the Chinese people, but these people are the worst I have ever encountered anywhere. Sorry to sound all heavy, but they are really that bad.

I agree with most of what you say; but there has to be part of the argument that says if some people are so naive as not to double check what they are being told, then perhaps they shouldn't be coming over here, or anywhere else for that matter.

And just to balance the situation a bit, not all contracts and companies/schools are out to intentionally deceive and screw the FT. There are a lot that do, but not all.

I have been with the same company now for over three years, and they consistently honour their side of a very fair contract. Renewal of RP's and FEC's are never a problem, even in the run up to Olympics. (My new RP was issued in Beijing two weeks prior to the opening of the games, and was issued for 14 months, not the usual 12)

Agree. I've been with my uni for 3 years and just renewed for a fourth. They are not perfect, who is?-not me! Smile, and we have had the odd minor 'problem' but TBH they have always made sure all my legal docs were arranged in a timely fashion and have never stitched me up regarding pay and/or other contractual rights. I've had to point out one or two thing on a couple of occasions, just to help clear up some misunderstanding, but all in all they are a fine bunch of people to work with.

Lucky me, I suppose.

All contracts are written with an advantage, depends on the negotiations as to whose advantage it ends up to be.....

I've been with the same school for five years. Had some problems, serious ones, too. But I'm still here. Some of us have managed to cope. I left my school for a year and a half, went to a university, and returned. Things were bad when I left but time does heal.

Such is not always the case. I've also had to get radical at times, which is the only way to get things done. But I'm not a twenty five year old girl. I worked in prisons and jails and dealt with sociopathic, narcissistic, lying, conniving, thieving, people before. And I can say with certainty that had I not that experience, I would have been at a loss here.

Shooting our own wounded adds nothing to the cause, whatever it might be.

I just got an offer from that school, Sunny language school in Chengdu. I thought the place looks very nice so maybe should consider their offer but when I checked the discussion forums, I read some negative experiences of people working there as well. So it is no good then I suppose. Thank you guys for the warning.
Anyone had a good experience there at all?

Mina

So have I but, in all of my 'time inside' I was under the impression that it was either a prison or a jail.

Indeed, and most of them were wearing a uniform.
