I call on the Norse Goddess HEL. To Scotland we go ( back)!!
Just teasing Mr Scot... always teasing....
Mr John - don't call them Scotch! They are Scots or Scottish. Scotch is reserved for whisky, eggs and tartan. I am sure SOMEONE will come along and tell me that's not true. |

Dear LOL,
Ah, so that's where the expression "Go to Hel" comes from. Of course, in this case, rather than "going to Hel", Hel would be coming to/for scot.
Regards,
John |

Dear LOL,
"I model myself on her."
But not, I hope as regards your personal appearance.
"Hel was so hideous that the chief god Odin banished her to the underworld that bore her name. She was a vile queen of the damned, with the head and body of a hag and the thighs and legs of a decomposing corpse."
Regards,
John |

Actually, there are frequnet anti-government protests in Egypt, for example.
However, I suppose demonstrations (esp. if they're Islamist influenced) against a pro-Western puppet aren't as easy to pigeonhole or glamorise as the failed Twitter Revolution, so you won't see breathless - and mindbogglingly poor - coverage of them on a TV news network near you. |

Dear veiledsentiments,
Alas - the fate of many of my attempts at humor; it's usually either misinterpretation or groans.
Actually, I suppose the groans are worse.

I just deleted a derogatory posting directed at one particular national group. The next step will be a very long (i.e., permanent) absence from this board.
Anyone who thinks it is open season on any one nation or its people here has come to the wrong board and will be shown the door very quickly.
Personal agendas belong on a board that welcomes them. Dave's is not one of them.
There will be no other warnings regarding this matter. |

My father was born in the year when "Kitty Hawk" first flew. So what ? Is adapting to change any easier for white folks ?
Jes' to clear up a minor error that was overlooked in having to object to a degrading reference to my nation/ality.
It was known as the "Wright Flyer I".
It was flown at Kitty Hawk, a barrier island in North Carolina by a pair of bicycle mechanics hailing from Dayton, Ohio.
I will visit Wright-Patterson AFB with my son in a few weeks to proudly show him the U. S. Air Force museum dedicated to the service that my father proudly served for 20 years.
Jes' a small clarification...to set the record straight.

I do believe that it was our grumpy Mr Scot who trundled over the line. He seemed to be having a bad day and was growling about the board like a bear.

VS, you mean he was growling about the board like a Jinn?
Well, Uncle Scot has been possessed by a dangerous Jinn called Zanzibar, and is influencing him to do things outside his control.
I still offer my help to Uncle Scot and extract the Zanzibar Jinn from his body through exorcism. |
