That's neat. Why did you choose Trinity? I heard it's the same thing but cheaper..?
Oh, I see. Through the loan, earned money, and scholarships you didn't have to work in Mexico. You got to kick back, enjoy, and go to school there . WAY cool!!(not emplying that it was any thing easy, I wouldn't know).
Why would going to grad be harder than the exchange prog. you did?
Si! mil gracias por contestarme. Me ayudaron mucho |

No hay de que, chenn0.
I miss Mexico and the ITESM (my host college) every single day.
I didn't think it would be viable for me to study in Mexico, but I hadn't looked into it. I was overjoyed to find out that I had options.
You have a good point when you ask why going to grad school abroad would be harder... I guess you're right. I didn't think being an exchange student was viable, and then I looked into it and found out otherwise.
There is this myth that study abroad is just for wealthy students, and that it's not open to anyone but an elite few. I can tell you that it's baloney. Most colleges encourage students to go abroad for a semester or two.
Most exchange students experience culture shock, to some degree... the emotional "roller coaster" of adjusting to a new culture. I didn't feel the culture shock intensely, which surprised me. I missed my family and I missed some of my music, and it was a shock to realize how big the world is. I had a much harder time readjusting to "gringo" culture than adjusting to Mexican culture.
Anytime you have questions, feel free to ask me or send me a message.
I'm still learning about teaching English abroad, but I've learned a lot from the forums and from my books on the subject. Of course withstudying abroad I am fortunate to have personal experience.
Saludos,
Sara |

That's great that you had such a great experience studying in Mexico. I'm actually thinking about returning to college for a few years in the states and then maybe study abroad for 2 semesters in Spain.
I could imagine you having to adjust to the gringo way of life ! haha ! I was in Mexico for only 1 week and when I came back to Texas, it took me a while to be able to eat our food even! It seemed like the real stuff in Mexico was sooo much better (besides Mom's cookin' o'course...but I don't get that too much any more ) I was even kind of sad when I came back because I enjoyed the happiness I saw every where and all the music on the streets. *sigh* |

You nailed it... Mexico has soul. That's why I love Mexico so much. That's why I've fallen in love with Spain. Spain has soul, too. My mom's cooking is the best but I love Mexican food. Did you have mole poblano? Thank you Aztecs for mole.
I have NEVER regretted studying abroad in mexico but I wish I could have studied in Mexico AND Spain. If you were a student in Spain, could you possibly teach English on a student visa? The immigration laws seem to change every five minutes, lol. But it's an idea . If I go to grad school I would like it to be either Spain or Mexico.
Saludos y escribe pronto |
