I've flown Saudi several times since 2001, and never had a problem with them.

I flew IranAir to Iran for the same reason - pray on take off, pray on landing. Made me feel safe till I noticed the aircraft was an ancient Aeroflot . Laughing

You could ask for worry beads if you didn't have your own. Could do with them now. Laughing

Dear Cleopatra,

I never didn't have a problem - from broken seats and soaked floors to being held on the tarmac in Jeddah for THREE hours waiting for a "princess" to board (they almost had a passenger mutiny that time; lots of people missed their connections) and, of course, having my ticket made out to

JOAN FLATTERY

But I did love those free stops back in the 80s.

Regards,
John

Well, based on my experience with Saudi Arabian airline, I rate them as a 3* airline. The services depend on the destination, the flights to european destinations are usually better than African or Asian destinations.

Based on my experience they're at most a 2* airline. I've flown them between SA and Asia, Europe, and the U.S.

Dear 007,

I'll split the difference: 2 1/2* (this IS out of 10 possible, right? - just kidding, sort of.)

But why this difference?

"The services depend on the destination, the flights to european destinations are usually better than African or Asian destinations."

John

Well, in general the rate is out 5*.

Because the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and quality assurance procedures in Europe are very strict compared to those in Africa and Asia.

I don't see the connection between your point here (which i agree with) and the service provided by Saudia or any other airline.

Which is a complete farce as airlines AREN'T rated and so much for Qatar Airways being "the world's first 5* airline".

The star rating system was started by Michelin and they only went to 3!

Well, airlines really are rated:

www.airlinequality.com

It's a 1-5* range. Saudia is presently rated with 3*'s, and in my opinion that's too generous, especially when you see some of the other airlines with 3*'s on the list.

Fair enuf, but I think that's made up for people who like to have their news delivered to them in the easiest of terms.

That's your opinion, and that's fine.

I have found the website useful, especially regarding recent passenger comments about flights on an airline I'm considering using for a trip.

It also provides useful information regarding seat pitch, amenities, etc. for specific carriers.
