Good to hear that you've got some life experience under your belt. There was a study done of ME students some years ago by a Lebanese research group, and the number one thing that they said that they looked for in a teacher was a "good sense of humor." Not a laugh a minute slapstick routine every day, but a person who smiles and isn't too serious about it all. (after all, this isn't brain surgery we're teaching... )
BTW... most of the worst of the horror stories about bad ME students, even in Saudi, tend to be military males. My friends in Saudi who are teaching university women enjoy their students very much.
