| Unless one is presented with a monthly alotment of Indonesian meat on a stick, slathered in spicy peanut sauce, I assume that what he meant was STATE not SATE, though that would be a nice treat too. |

People who are employed in the UK pay National Insurance. This entitles those making paymentsto benefits, including State Retirement Pension. These pensions are adjusted annually to keep pace with inflation.
Such pensions are paid also to people entitled if they live outside the UK, BUT the country of domicile may affect the rate of payment. If you are entitled to sucjh a pension and live in the USA, you will get annual uprating. If you are resident in Canada you will not.
