true but uncle warmonger still requires you to file your returns even if there's no tax burden because the uncle wants to monitor your every move in case you want to publicly express your opinion about his foreign policy.

and, you say, the US tax tyranny, the money junkie empire, is aimed at taking my money to fund its wars?

I've worked overseas in 5 countries worldwide for 23 years and since 1986 returned to the States for 3 or 4 years at different times. My salaries and free housing and other benefits have ranged up to $80K or so. I never had any problem with income taxes and never had to pay any. And that includes the fact that I owned and rented out two houses! All I have needed (and only in the past two years, as my income and expenses got more complicated) was to pay a good CPA $300 to prepare my tax returns. Now--if I earned more than the current foreign-earned income exclusion of $84,000 I would eventually start to pay some taxes on the amount over that...but only on the amount over that, as far as I know.

And you are wrong about Libya and US. Ask any experienced Canadian about the hoops they have to jump through and the outrageous taxes they pay. I know hard-working Canadians who simply refuse to retire in Canada due to the taxes.

Furthermore, I've lived in Europe 15 years and I can tell you that the US has the lowest income taxes of any developed western country that I know of.

As for tax returns being required in order to keep tabs on us in case we should criticize our government...are you out of your mind? Do you know anything or you just spout like some French undergraduate? Don't you ever read US newspapers? Watch MSNBC? Never heard of the First Amendment? I have a column myself in which I regularly excoriated Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney.

So while I agree that wars in Iraq are stupid, you in your zeal to be a zealot don't know WTF you're talking about. You should stick to teaching English, if that's what you teach. It's certainly not logic.

This ugly personal attack you have lowered yourself to undertake clearly belies some type of inner problems you have. Did I ever personally talk about Sheikhnbake here?

Let me ask YOU a few now, rude boy. Are you 1 of those brainwashed Americans who doesn't see what the IRS/Fed/Homeland Security, etc., are doing in order to tyrannize the US population, whether they're at home or abroad? I would expect you to be more informed after all your international travels, about just what the US Empire is ALL (not partially) about.

Wow, you should work a bit on your insulting behavior which you have directed quite boorishly and personally at a fellow poster on this board.

Everyone with a brain knows the US tax system is funding TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS of Pentagon missiles and missile systems, drones, massive spy systems, fighter jets, submarines, H.A.A.R.P., and worst of all UNENDING WARS AGAINST SHADOWY ENEMIES, WHICH KILL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE (i.e. "collateral damage"), all funded faithfully by the American Sheep-le.

That was my point, but I guessed you missed it.

Just go back and read all your posts again. I think you missed them yourself. As for mine, the facts I stated are the facts.

Im not questioning your facts. I believed everything you wrote. And I agree its a bit Twilight Zone to think that the US govt keeps tabs on everybody no matter where they are, but Bush/Cheney DID put those systems in place and they are being ramped up now by Obama, if you noticed.

And in the end, you didnt have to insult me personally, disagreeing in a decent manner would have sufficed.

OK. Fact is, though, this past fiasco (a) was a Bush/Cheney phenomenon, not a natural tendency of the US government...don't forget, other regimes both benign and malignant also buy huge amounts of arms. Would you like to live in North Korea? heaven help us if the latter were a much bigger power than it is. (b) Bush warmongering has little to do with unreasonable taxes, as in fact the conservatives are against taxes, thinking funds to operate the government come out of thin air. However I do agree that our tax dollars should not be spent on wars like Iraq. (c) attacks against US civilians in the form of terrorism have been going on since the late 1970s, and came to a head on 9/11. It is unfortunate that Bush had to be in power then, but would you really expect any country to do NOTHING in response? A democratic government in any country would very soon lose power if it sat on its heels and said "Oh, we are evil people so we deserve it--let's just wait for some more. Thank you sir, may I please have another?" Actually the US was never a colonial power in the Middle East; its only sin was fretting about another possible holocaust in the country with no name. Eisenhower actually stopped France and the UK from intervening in a Suez conflict in 1956, something that the US was not involved in but nonetheless preferred Europe also not send troops to.

Sorry but we are certainly not slaves in any sense of the word and only ignorant people allow themselves to be "brainwashed." As for brainwashing, I've seen much more of it in Europe and the Middle East and also Japan. I've spent 35 years in 10 countries outside my own. Americans tend to be more independent-minded...but I say "TEND" because yes, there are evagelicals and neocons who don't know anything except how to ignore evidence that doesn't fit their narrow world view. Same everywhere around the world, but perhaps to a greater extent in many other regions.
