Tis not for us to reason why but merely die trying to comply with the many, many inane policies.
Welcome to China. Learn to do it their way or better to leave. You will be happier and live longer. |
Believe it or not, Im not interested in your opinion. Id like to know what the facts are. Im assuming youre saying that a reference letter is absolutely essential but given the "inane" way you wrote that I have a hard time believing you know what youre talking about. |
According to your post history you were in Korea but are now in Thailand, thinking about going to Saudi Arabia but discussing breaking a contract in China. You are under no obligation to explain yourself to me but the mods may take an interest in you very soon. |

Saudi Arabia Forum
What are the Consequences when Breaking a Contract?

I am close to agreeing to an offer to teach in Saudi. The only problem for me is that I really dont feel like I know what to expect. I am not saying that I would want to "pull a runner" from the job but I am curious about the worst case scenario if I did decide it wasnt right for me to be there.
I have read that in China, a negative reference from a previous employer will basically make it impossible to get another work visa. Is the same sort of thing true in Saudi? |

| Ummmm... one couldn't pull a runner in Saudi Arabia. There's not much you'd be allowed to pull in Saudi Arabia. |

Mr. Ed Just answer the question or stay out of the thread.
I dont want to live in Shanghai anymore but I would like to stay in china.
What happens to my visa once i leave the school? (midnight run). do i have to get out of the country and back again if i want to teach in another province?. |

| Depends on the residency permit. If your residency permit is cancelled by the school (which it probably will be) you have to get off the mainland. |

That seems correct and what I thought, so it means I must leave the country immediately in order to avoid fines etc??
I have also heard of other teachers doing midnight runs and getting jobs in other provinces without any (mayor) problems. |

| If I were to quit a job, I wouldn't take ANY chances. I would immediately get on a plane to Hong Kong. You can relax, kick back, look for another job in China and when you get one, you're almost there already! |
