Everyone gets a pass in Thailand. It is very difficult to fail anything. Parents and kids expect kids to pass. Money will even be paid. Everything is flexible.

I have worked at "top places" in TL and at "medium places" in the UK and Europe. TL is a joke. Whoaaaa....................................

You weren't always speaking as negatively about your job as you are now. Could it be that you got frustrated and left your job...?

At my uni which is also considered one of the top ones in Thailand, I can fail as many students as I want (and I do fail a few every term).

OT is paid well, and I only work M -Th with no clock-in clock-out BS.

I've taught kids for years and wouldn't want to go back. I can't deal with the parent BS anymore.

There are some uni gigs out there that'll make you earn six-digit numbers, but people hardly ever mention them on forums.

Ramkamhaeng IIS
Sasin
Mahidol University International College

The monthly salary packages at unis are similar, but it's the overtime and the extra classes in international programs that get you the real money.

Of course to get in one of those programs, you need to be well-qualified and/or connected. It pretty much works through the "old boys' network".

Ah yes. The good old "you-won't-get-the-better-jobs-in-Thailand-till-you've-been-here-a-zillion-years-and-are-a-member-of-the-Higher-Masonic-Order" chestnut. I confess I haven't heard that one for quite a while. Strange then, how so many 'old Thai hands' of my acquaintance are still grubbing around for the same Bht 30,000 to Bht 40,000 a month jobs. Perhaps they don't know the secret handshake?

You are misreading my post. Some universities don't advertise their jobs but recruit through recommendations of existing faculty members. That has nothing to do with belonging to any masonic-like cult or on the the length of stay in Thailand.
