Other people can wait if they like. In this case, though, IELTS and Cambridge failed miserably.
I taught IELTS in a previous life. Im not going to criticise its reliability or accuracy; its adequate for those wanting to study in Australia, for example. But for this Malaysian wanting to apply right now for this job in Germany, it is not an option.
Do I detect snobbery here about TOEIC? It seems to hold its own in this market and, unlike IELTS and Cambridge, has moved on a lot in the last decade. It would be amusing to see some salesman trying to convince a HR bigwig to use IELTS to test his workforce. |

I agree that your best bet would be a telephone interview with a teacher who is a native speaker possibly from another laguage school, if this school does not have any other native speakers, who could do this.
I am also not a native speaker, I am origially from Germany and grew up with a British stepmother and never took any English tests, though I took the CELTA, but this does not really assess your English skills. When I apply for jobs, there is usually a phone or face to face interview with a native speaker, either the Director, the DOS or the person responsible for hiring and after this, so far, I have always been offered the job, so it seems to work. |
