In reply to Mrguay84, yes, it's the Spanish government that runs the language and culture assistants program. You can google it to find out more.

I found something, but it seemed like it was just for North Americans (which seemed strange, especially considering the extra hassles with the non EU visa situation).
Does anybody know if there are any similar programs for EU citizens? Thanks.

I've been away for a long time but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me and gave advice. I'm looking for work in Mexico now. Mexico is an amazing country and I love Mexico too but haven't given up on Spain.

Apparently there are ways, I really miss Spain and hope something works out.

I have just one question about the North American Language Assistants Program. It's for North Americans, but we all know that typically North Americans have a really hard time getting permits.

My concern is, I realize that *some* North Americans are potentially eligible for a European passport because they have a parent or grandparent from certain EU countries.

I'm not in that category- my ancestors came to America (I say America and not USA because I'm referring to the New World in general) roughly a thousand years ago. Sad

Given the work visa situation in Europe, would a North American like me (not entitled to a work permit) have a chance ofbeing accepted into the program? Or are most of the people who are accepted North Americans who are eligible for European papers?

Thanks for everything and thanks if you can help with my question!!
