Dating seems to be a good route, marriage is better I can fight with my husband in Peruvian slang now. Not that we fight a lot, but you get the idea. |
That's a common (and fun) way to learn. Here in Japan, it means the foreign man learns feminine Japanese. Oh well. Rent some samurai movies to balance it out.
Come to think of it, I remember standing outside a bar one night arguing in Japanese with a former GF. I was impressed with my ability to respond so quickly. Still, not much fun. |

I married one!
I confess I cheated though because I studied French at school and actually trained as a French teacher.
If you husband is francophone will he help you? I know I met my husband in English and the first 2 years were solely English speaking but now we're communicating in French a lot more and it's doing wonders for my 'informal' vocab (and I can swear like a trooper )
Malagache though...different matter! |

I used every way I could to learn Chinese when I lived in Taiwan. Same now in Portugal.
Check out your local libraries for courses: pimsleur, michel thomas, hugo's French in 3 Months etc. These are good starting points. A class can help you make friends with people with similar interests - and get practice. Language exchanges can help, if you find the right one. |

| Insist that your husband speak to you exclusively in French. Join a French language class. Join clubs or teams that will require you to interact in French. Good luck! |
