| The training for foreign teachers in Japan doesn't include training on how to work with a native speaking teacher of the target language, or an ALT. So really, it's "we don't care because we never did, and even those few of us in the BoE who used to work with them didn't know what to do with them. All we know is that the federal government says we need to have them in class. We ask the foreigners what their job is, but for some reason the foreigner from the other side of the planet who have never been to Japan before and have no training in language teaching don't actually know. they were told they need to introduce students to elements of their culture and country. But we don't care about their country, so we want them to do something else". |
Beautifully put. My own brief experience as a JET ALT confirmed this description. |

I wonder if other ALT companies will be looked at because of this case??
or will it be business as usuaul .. who woke me up?
it certainly would be good for a few things to be cleared up once and for all |

The three year dodge isn't allowed in law anywhere. It's only an internal guideline, as is the three month cooling off period dodge.
Changing the company after three years, or the ALTs, doesn't reset the clock. |

| I didn't say after 3 years. I said after less than 3 years. |

Well obviously nothing has changed, and it has been over a year. Good to know that the BoEs like business as usual and the path of least resistance over everything and anything else. |

Yeah, that was a good summary of how they probably think. |

Yes, yes, yes! Probably...forget it! It is! I was a JET twenty-one years ago and that was exactly what was put to me. Eventhough, I had a teaching degree, so many didn't, that we were all painted with the same brush!
It's comforting to see that some things NEVER change!
P.s.- Are non-Japanese still refered to as "Gaijin"? No response required!

Kashiwa, you say? As in Chiba-ken?
Excuse me
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Sorry, but those self-important freaks at the Kashiwa School Board, where I was placed by an ALT job scalper called IES (Infernally Evil Scum) on one such illegal contract, once cost me a job because they didnt like my face. It warms my heart to see these lowlifes get ripped a new one. |
