Many 20-somethings in the US have some interesting ideas about entitlement and what counts as professional these days. |
Have been seeing such stuff for years on these boards. Don't think it'll ever change. Are those feelings only from the Americans?
|
I've done interviews for JET in three countries over the past 7 years now. Each is different. While I know things change, my most recent experience is with the US process and working in the US in general and that was the only reason for the comment about the American applicants. |

| In the past many Japanese believed that if you didn't look a certain way, then there was no way you could be speaking genuine English. |
It's still that way for some employers, which is why many Asians find it hard to get jobs here. |
I would think that it was not because of appearance only that Japanese discriminate against Asians, but because of their inferiority complex with Asians who are able to command English better than them, even though Japan by far preceived to be the more advanced country.
That being said, I wonder how many western countries also feel they have a superior complex towards Japan itself , or maybe Asia, well make that the ROW for that matter ...... (I'm not going to go down this road again, I think the discussions are somewhere in the forum already )
As to regards to the OP's query, don't take rejections personally, but take the application process and interviews seriously. |
