They are not agents - they are contractors. there is a clear distinction. An agent hires you and then you go to work for COMPANY A as an employee. a Contractor hires you and then you provide services for CompanyXYZ, but receive payment from the contractor, who in turn bills the Company.

Decent employers do direct hire - not through a contractor.

Try

IPA
BAE
Raytheon
KFUPM
DDC

Thanks for the info and help. This might be more of a personal question but since I am married and have a daugther(four years old) being in KSA would be a little hard right? My spouse would not be teaching. How are the schools for her age there?

Though the benefits of teaching in Saudia Arabia do seem nice. Again, thank you for the information and help.

These jobs I listed above are for males. The market for females is quite different. I cannot tell from your post whether you are male or female.

Well, it seems Uncle Scott has a short memory, and forgot that the bus driver is a male! Laughing

Thanks. I am male and feel that this would be an excellent opportunity, maybe in the near future.
So how to you like teaching there?

Uncle Scott, I think it is time to pack up and head to Glasgow! Laughing

Already on my way, oh feisty feline. Now go and open a can of KiteKat and leave law-abiding doggies in peace.

Dear veiledsentiments,

Right - and just to clarify: Women are hired to work only in the Women's Branch located in Riyadh whereas men are hired to work in the Riyadh headquarters and in the Jeddah and Dammam branches.

Regards,
John

Dear Alvi

You need to think very carefully about how life will be for your wife in Saudi.

As a teacher it is unlikely that you will be able to afford accommodation on a compound with your housing allowance (I may be wrong, I am not an expert on this). You may be able to afford a decent sized flat, but because of the heat and Saudi culture, often these do not have windows, in the sense that we understand them. (ie, opaque glass, barred, looking out into an interior. with a few of a wall 2 ft away). With not enough natural light to function, always needing to put the electricity on. This can be incredibly claustrophobic.

As your wife will not be able to drive, she will be dependent on you, or your driver, to take her shopping, or anywhere else. (can anyone else think of somewhere else women can go.....oh yes.....spas).

She may be able to get involved with other expat unemployed wives, but my guess is that their husbands would be on higher salaries than you, so she may end up having to spend a lot just to 'keep up'.

Its a good place to be if you want to study, and spend hours a week reading and writing assignments. And Jarir a national chain, do a very good line in arts and crafts materials if she would like to take up decoupage or painting on glass.

OK.....I'm not a non-working wife!! So maybe I am not the best person to comment, maybe other posters have better info.

The abaya is often the least of the problems for women.

boysfromtheblackstuff,

Thank you for the thought-provoking post. I have bandied about the idea of up and moving my family (wife, 3 year-old) for a cash grab. When asked about this idea, my wife (who's Russian, incidentally) basically said, "Yeah, money's great, but what the he** am I supposed to do?"
She's right, and you're right. Although I make comparatively less here than I would in the kingdom, quality of life is something not to be overlooked.

I might still be able to sell her on the "spa" thing, though Cool

Many thanks,

At first glance this looks exactly the help I needed.

Cheers,
