Dear khmerhit,

Hmm, "Fluffy, the Vampire Slayer" - nope, just doesn't have the same pizazz. How about "Tuffy"?
Regards,
John

Hi folks, currently nursing a black eye after a night of hedonism.Nice to get a mention from you all.I'm soon off to foreign fields again Inshallah so as the boredom sets in I'll be posting more regularly.Just for the record,it's not Buffy,Biffy or anything else....just plain old Biffinbridge, which you can shorten to Biffinbridg if you like but it won't sound the same.

Dear biffinbridge,
I just got around to noticing your post of Dec. 28, '03 on the Poland Forum (obviously not one I visit very often):

"Send me a pm,I'll be in Riyadh soon. That goes for you too Johnslat.By the way John, did you meet Mel 'first on, last off' Gibson at Na Drang?See you soon?"

So, is Bigshot's Bar and Diner (in the States, it'd be more likely called Bigshot's Bar and Grille) located in Riyadh now? I left there way back in July of '03, which may help explain why you haven't seen me there. But I guess you can't be there, either, since your latest indicates that you're " soon off to foreign fields again".
Nope, never met Mel, though I was over there when the battle of Landing Zone X-Ray took place (November 14-16, 1965). Of course, Mel, 47 now, would have been around 8 years old then. But the Ia Drang Valley campaign that the 7nd Air Cav unit (ironically enough, the descendant of General George Armstrong Custer's outfit) engaged in was a great illustration of what General William Tecumseh Sherman said: War is hell.

So, what "foreign fields" are you off to soon? Back to the Gulf? If so, I wouldn't be too surprised. After all, when the cops asked Willie Sutton why he robbed banks, he's supposed to have replied simply:
"Because that's where the money is."
Regards,
John
