Few things:
1. Some threads are moved/deleted as a whole not due always to negative claims made by a poster but complaints of harrassment or trolling/flaming. Some moderators just move or delete the whole thing to let people cool off. Up to the disgretion of the moderator.
2. This website as someone mentioned is a paid for service. You as posters (and myself included), come on here and post or "Contribute" totally at the discretion of Dave Sperling. It's his site and for most people, he welcomes them to come here and participate.
This is not an NPO or .org. Whether you consider it to be a wrong or a right, money changes hands for advertising on here. This does not mean that Dave turns a blind eye as some of you imply.
It does mean that he has the responsibility of handling complaints from those who pay and as well those schools/companies that don't pay but suggest legal action against Dave. As a rule, to avoid issues, in those situations, Dave has been known to remove the posts or thread that bore these issues.... prior to (pre-emptive) or after a complaint.
Many of you fail to as well understand that some claims can't be substantiated by people who come on here for a wide host of reasons. We know many can be valid but in the cases that some are not, who then is responsible for the damage done to the person or school/company? Dave has to make the call on this.
But when such claims have been found to be substantiated with proof etc, Dave has placed a Warning sticky about such or let such complaints stand.
None of you can deny that.
Thus in comparrison to other websites out there, Dave's has gone farther than others in such actions. Therefore his site is predominantly fair in this respect.
Some of you take issue with this, and I understand your point of view, but in the end, that's all it is.. your point of view. If you wish to run a website and handle these sorts of things and represent yourself as a non profit organization for the purpose, then your welcome to and I'd be more than happy to send you addresses of some good quality webhosts for the very purpose and wish you the best of luck.
But again remember participating here is only via Dave's permission.
That all said, you're welcome to post but you aren't welcome to make trouble for other posters or for the website. We're here to build the forum's community, not tear it down.
If you got an issue with how Dave runs the site or how Dave's moderators do their job, then take it up in email or pm with Dave directly. You don't build the community better by airing out your issues in this manner.
SO I think that's made it clear for most of you and with that I'll be locking this thread. |
