I've met more than a few Swiss and Austrians who I assumed to come from Australia. (No? South Africa? ... What, really?) I've also met people from the the Southern Cone who all speak perfect English (Some American, some RP) If *I* were running a language school I'd be inclined to hire a few such teachers, but as previously mentioned immigration authorities are likely to see it differently.
I second the EU. If I had an EU Passport, I would certainly try to find a job there. Most of the postings on TEFL.com are in Europe, and from what I've heard it's still very easy to get a job pretty much anywhere where everybody doesn't already know English (the Low Countries and Northern Europe).
Is there a reason you don't want to teach German?
