Your deposit????!!

What have they hornswaggled you into?

(Will you be paying for the privilege of teaching classes for them?)

Methinks this will not end well..... Neutral

This is for the CELTA training, NOT a teaching position. Of course the hope is after training they offer me a position.

Hi, everyone! I'm happy to tell you that although BKC appealed the verdict the first court gave, they lost in the higher court. Yes, BKC-IH MOSCOW LOST AGAIN!

The courts upheld the first court's decision - that BKC illegally terminated me. The higher court will issue a written verdict some time in the next few months. BKC will be forced to hand over money. That is now a certainty. The higher court will crunch the numbers.

I will update my blog soon when I have more details. It's definitely time to break out the champagne. BKC-IH Moscow lost.

What tickles me is that there are so, so many BKC teachers (when I worked there) who were scared and felt helpless and left messages on my blog about how I wasn't going to win, nothing could be done, I had brought it all upon myself, you can't fight The Corporation, etc.

Nobody is going to throw a parade over this. It's not like one of those scenes in the movie where cameras and reporters show up and someone makes a speech about justice and fighting against the oppression of foreign workers.

I guess I just want everyone to know that it can be done. It HAS been done. My lawyer confirmed that this is now an important precedent since the higher court upheld the lower court's verdict.

So the next time someone tells you that you have no rights as a foreign worker in Russia, you can tell them to stuff it and then sue the hell out of them. Smile

I'm working on getting my main lawyer (the workers' rights advocate) to allow me to post his name and contact information here. If he gives the go-ahead, I'll be happy to share it.

Eve, this is just great news! As your lawyer said, this sets a very important precedent for all future teachers in Russia.
I'm truly impressed.
