Istanbul's great for 20 to 30 somethings interested in living centrally and socialising with young educated Turks ...

But it's not so much fun for 40 somethings living amongst the not-so-well educated in the concrete boxes of the over-crowded suburbs ...

You can bet that's not the image they had in mind when they started out

There are tons of other options here - universities, private high schools, nanny jobs, private lessons, corporate lessons, business seminars, voice-over work, editing work... it's endless.

I know/have heard about finding work in the high schools, universities, and private lessons, but could elaborate on some of the other options please? (I am especially interested in editing work, as I used to work in magazines.) Are you hearing these jobs through friends/colleagues or are they regularly posted somewhere?

Many thanks!

Actually, I think most of it just comes by word of mouth. There are occasional advertisements on craigslist or mymerhaba (that's how I got into editing), but it's much easier just to get out there, meet a lot of people, and ask questions.
