| I've worked as teacher, ST and DOS at both corporate schools and franchises. One didn't work out for me, a franchise. EF is a fair stepping stone for newbies to both teaching and China as they do offer reasonable support academically as well as acceptable social and financial support, in general, although the pay/hours ratio is bit stiff at times. Generally speaking if the DOS is supportive of teachers the experience should be okay. If the DOS is just a lackey for the owner it could turn out to be a bit of nightmare. It really is hit or miss with EF |

The whole thing about franchises is to replicate the business model not do it differently each time.
I was told when I was first in China that McDonalds went with the franchise model when they first entered the market but quickly went back to company-owned outlets, because the Chinese franchise-holder immediately started to cut corners. That was in 2004 and don't know if that situation still applies.
In my home country field checks of McDonalds franchise outlets are frequent and brutal. Seems like EF either don't or won't police their franchises. |

| Franchises run on similar models and have similar problems as well as solutions. I think it is fair. |

I was referring to business models and different approaches to their execution, not comparing EF and McDonalds.
McDonalds found the franchise model unsatisfactory in China and I expect EF will too, in time - if they care. |

I agree. Compaing EF to McDonalds is an insult to McDonalds. |
