universities mostly have a foreign language teaching Unit, or Center, or whatever name it might go by, where students from all disciplines take classes and get tested to meet their foreign language (usually English) requirement for their degree. This is what you're aiming to contact, and it's generally separate and independent of the department where language majors do their studies.

good point and relevant to the conversation because:

i dont have an actual teachers certificate. i just have my bachelors in history and a TEFL certificate, i got by doing some 4 week course.

these 'foreign language teaching units' are like a separate entity within the university, though they work closely with the uni, they kinda play by different rules. all this to say: it's worth a try.

i worked in one such place, with "just" a BA...

contact them, tell them you're interested, tell them what you have, ask if they anticipate an opening, and add that you will soon enroll in a Masters of Education program at their uni. they just might grab you up.

Wink

One thing is I never see any advertisements for Uni jobs. At least not where I'm looking. So should I just start sending out mass emails to all universities? Near where I'm staying is the Panamericana Uni. Just send an email to their language department?

personally, i'd go visit them. try to catch the director when she's not in a meeting or out to lunch (and they always are! Wink ) and have a chat.

you won't see ads. cause they don't always advertise: they use their networks. so put yourself into their network. go introduce yourself.

for unis that are too far, give them a call, and keep calling, until you get the director.

it's been said here, and it makes sense, that emails are too easy to ignore.

btw, i'd give the unis a pass all together and go for colegios...

Have you thought of looking through the Job List pages on this website?

http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/

Put "Mexico" into the search function there.

If you don't have any previous experience in a school, maybe one of the schools which provides initial training would be the place to start. Good luck.

Publicly questioning Mod actions just resulted in a member now being an ex-member as well as getting this thread locked.
