I agree with chinook! If you know exactly how long you plan to be gone the time will go much quicker for them. To leave your segnificant other hanging in the balance waiting (perhaps in vain) for your return is kind of unfair. I wouldnt even try a LDR with out knowing the date of my (or his) return.

For the record I broke up with my longtime boyfriend for this reason. We still talk and may try to do the whole relationship thing when I return (when ever that is) but for now its better to be free.
