trapezius, since you are in Jeddah, do you have any info (good or bad) about Jeddah Knowledge International School (JKS)? I have got a friend who got an offer to teach Physics in this school, and he wants to know about the repuation of this school.
According to the school website, the honorary chair is a woman ( I wonder if she has any connection with a certain Emira??).

I have heard good things about the school, as recently as last Thursday (at a Thanksgiving dinner! ) from an American woman who teaches there, and from some of my wife's colleagues who have moved to JKS. They have had the American system since inception, however, just recently they have become a full IB school as well (PYP, MYP, and the DP), the first and only in Saudi to receive such status, and one of only 5 in the region.
Although it is a Saudi school, and all the students are Saudis, it seems to be a deviation from the norm. The management is competent (a lot of Westerners in admin and teaching), the school facilities and grounds are superb, they have a comprehensive and proper website, and it is a proper academic institution, a rarity among Saudi schools (and colleges/unis).
Your friend, is it a he or a she? You say 'he', but the boys' section only goes up to Grade 5. It was set up as a girls' school (girls' section is full 12 years, both American diploma and IB Diploma), and just for the last 5 years they started adding a grade level for boys each year. Next year, they will have Grade 6, and so on. I doubt any school teaches physics in Grade 5. (no male teachers for female students)
So, your 'friend'... |
