My understanding is that there was a lawsuit between the previous owner and some Kuwaiti investors. The latter won, so the current ELS building is no longer allowed to use the ELS name. Who knows what happens next.

This was never a good outfit to work for - at least in Qatar. Underpaid, overworked teachers and the sad practice of hiring people to teach just because they were native-speakers. I remember one year when they hired some visiting university students from the US - no clue about teaching but they gave them a summer job anyway. One of the nutcase directors there ended up at the Gulag for a while - she ended up marrying a local so I heard. She left ELS in a mess and it went downhill after that.

Fading fast. A lot of Gulagers did a stint here. Too many fingers in the proverbial financial pie.

I'm afraid this observation has a lot of truth in it, certainly in the history of the place. It's a shame.
