14 RMB an hour ??

Probably the worst offer I've ever seen.

The excerpts below are from an actual employment contract of a private university in Conghua, Guangdong. The university offers a salary of RMB 6,300 per month for 20 periods per week; which isn't too bad. However, the possibility exists that they could ask their FT's to do an additional 1 / 5 / 10 / 20 hours per week of promotional activities for RMB 12 per hour!

And RMB 30 PER DAY for sick pay????

Sometimes Party B may need to work on special occasions, say the anniversary of the founding of Party A or any special promotional work and the employee is to be paid 12RMB/h.

If the employee has been sick and obtained the permission from the hospital that he/she could ask for sick leave, the employee can receive RMB 30 Yuan for the sick leave allowance each day and no other salary during the period of his/her sick leave.

There is almost nothing that would make me consider this; the rest of it's bad enough, but this clinches the yuckiness.

Is the shared accom based on one guy, two hot nymphomaniac girls with nice *beep* and a single king sized bed?

I'd go for THAT 3 person shared accom, but nothing else.

Meet the ladies first, and get it in the contract!

I hate to say it, but I guess my school paid me 12 kwai per hour for the 12-13 hours I put into their Model United Nations. It was two nights plus a Saturday. I got 100 yuan. The other FTs say I got robbed! Any ideas on that? I did get a nice group picture out of the deal, but to be honest, I feel like a fool.
Cool

Most contracts I've seen don't give you ANYTHING for sick pay. Your salary is pro-rated and you get docked.

I'm fraid I now agree. Do they have some kind of slush fund for this? What should I have expected? What about sponsored and unsponsored speech competitions? Anything else? Assume I'm clueless.
Wait, I guess I established that. Very Happy

My contract says that I should attend English activities, such as Speech Competitions, sometimes. I say you were lucky to get paid anything. They could have said you were obligated to do so because of the contract.

I must admit, I've been a Judge at a few Speech Competitions over the years, without additional pay. I've even attended Magic shows (it seems the Chinese folk like magic) that students invited me to.

The Speech Competitions aren't bad once or twice a year. I've usually been given a gift of some sort, perhaps a book, and it is a good chance to flirt with the pretty Chinese English teachers.

I must admit, I'm a bit dismayed tonight - I discovered today that one of the ladies I flirted with is married. I thought things were going well when I asked her what she would do during the upcoming holiday and invited myself to visit her in her home province. She said, Ok. I then asked when she would go home and she said she wasn't sure of her husbands schedule!

I had no idea Model UN takes so long. I have never participated in any capacity. I think with three speech contests plus Model UN plus English Corners I get a pass next semester.
I just wonder if they had a bigger stack of Mao's for me and someone just borrowed a few.

No, the original job was for English ... the thread is over 3 weeks old. I can only assume the English job has gone, but the options to teach in other languages remains. The German one was also there when I made the initial post.

Just seen this advert for IH Xian...they are calling it a 3-6 month internship, but the terms are ...... hmmmmm, Ill let you decide.

25 teaching hours a week plus 10 promotional hours doing demo classes at other Universities and schools.

3 person shared accom.

Free Chinese lessons, free school lunches, mobile with 50 RMB credit.

And heres the meat and bones of the package.

2000 RMB flight allowance.
2000 RMB monthly stipend/allowance.

OK, there might be some mileage in a 'try before you buy' internship. But 2000 a month for 35 hours a week offers a return that even makes me cry!

Answering that ad should be a federal crime with mandatory sentence guidelines.
Or, as one of my students would say:
"Oh my Lady Gaga."

Agreed. Possibly the worst "job offer" I have ever seen. So bad, I have to wonder if OP is trolling.

35 hours per week. Shared housing. 2000/month. I wouldn't wipe my arse with that contract.
