I would vote Dan as a world famous EX-ESL (Enormous Sculpture Lifter) teacher. I say Ex because as you probably noticed... he didn't give any signs of life after he was going to attempt going to the gym with a translator!

Thanks for the update John. Well, I could always go for Oprah...there will be some competition, but I'm pretty sure that Steadman hasn't put a ring on her finger yet.

How about famous ELF teachers? That's what I thought when I read it after a hard day of manual labour in the tropics. Btw, if you stop sweating and your skin gets really hot is that heat exhaustion? It's several weeks since I did my senior first aid course and I forget Smile

Dear Aramas,
Probably not:

"Although partly due to exhaustion -- and feeling like exhaustion, as the name implies -- heat exhaustion is also a result of excessive heat and dehydration. The signs of heat exhaustion include paleness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fainting, and a moderately increased temperature (101-102 degrees F) which, in this case, is not truly a fever, but caused by the heat. Rest and water may help in mild heat exhaustion, and ice packs and a cool environment (with a fan blowing at the child) may also help. More severely exhausted patients may need IV fluids, especially if vomiting keeps them from drinking enough."

Are you drinking enough? Ah, water, that is.

Regards,
John

What about Anna Trapsty from 'Anna and the King'? I'm sure, through her diaries, you will find that, primarily, she was a TEFL teacher...

My daughter saw it earlier and wanted to know where you got it. She asked me how you got inside the TV to take a picture of Thomas. Laughing

Didn't Henry Miller take a job teaching English in France in 'Tropic of Cancer' when he was totally down on his luck? I seem to remember that...

Lord Baton Powell taught English in Africa (mind you, only to boys).

I'm semi-famous in British Columbia, but I am definitely famous in my hometown.

And no...you don't get to know my name...

Whiner, you aren't by any chance Bill Vander Zalm are you? I always wondered what happened to him. Or maybe Doug, from Doug and the Slugs? Did you design the world's largest hockey stick 'n puck in my hometown of Drunken Duncan? Did you paint the murals in Ladysmith? Did you sleep with that Guess woman? Did you kill anyone? Were you discovered by Terry David Mulligan? Give us a hint, why doncha? Now I'm curious!

Etonian old boy Eric Arthur Blair taught English in the form of private lessons whilst in Paris in 'lodgings'. You can read about it in his 'Down and out in Paris and London'.
