I don't mind the evals, it's just htat my school seems to COMPLETELY base being re-newed on them. there's numbers and a open notes section. ON the numbers, I'm barely average, yet on the notes, about 98% of the students have good things to say. Of course you get teh ones that say it was the worst class (those would be from the ones that failed), but the open section isn't taken into account. And the questions aren't that good either.

I remember for my MA we spent a good amount of time on how to create a survey that was both valid and reliable. And this certainly isn't an example of one that is.

That's what's annoying. NOt the fact that I'm not welcome to feedback, but that the survey is no good and students are nearly 100% responsible for being re-hired. Professional development, prep, time management, etc, none of it is taken into account.

I once got observed and the comment in the box was; 'should have used an OHP.' We didn't have an OHP.

More recently the boss solved all our problems by just giving the Arab teachers (who don't turn up for work most days) higher scores than us. NICE.

Don't worry about evaluations because they are often so subjective or related to pay rises which schools/companies don't want to give.

Most people who observe you actually teach were those who got out of the class room first. Funny that.
