In his most recent posts he was just reporting the advice of consular offices. What he failed to make clear was:

1. That the information was from that third party source (the second one was clearer in this regard - but with the SSET business at the bottom of the post there is some confusion). Why not just post: I have found this information on the American Institute in Taiwan Website and thought that I would share it with you all etc.

2. That the information that he refers to has very little reference to his original post. In my opinion his intention seems to have been to misquote official comments in an attempt to back up his claims of rebellion in Taiwan. The consular information was NOT posted on their respective websites because of any recent events in Taiwan but has been there all along.

The problem with his original post seems to be quite clearly that his posts are based on nothing but his own, individual personal feelings. Most of us who are familiar with Aristotles posts would have to agree that Aristotles views on things tend to be overstated and exaggerated. As individual we can all respect his views and the readership of this board can accept them as being outrageous.

True his style of writing does seem to be OTT sometimes but I think we should just put it down to being idiosyncratic. I can think of a few other posters here who "pitch" their information badly.

But, where has this quote come from?

"All foreign teachers are advised to maintain a high level of alert and preparedness in the event of widespread civil unrest following the elections on March 22, 2004.
All foreign residents are recommended to register their residence with their respective nations representative office in Taiwan in preparation for possible evacuation. "

Thanks

And the answer is...?

The quote comes direct from Aristotle. That is he came up with it all by himself. He adds the words 'official' and 'advisory' etc. in there just to try to add credibility.

The fact is that the post was worthless, and should be seen for what it is - unsubstantiated gooblygook.

That's what I thought, too, Brian. I just wanted Aristotle to confirm it!

Aristotle you are quick to put out these 'Official Advisories' but very slow to end them. Don't you feel that you have some social responsibility to actually portray what is really going on here.

Just wondering when you will consider it safe for us all to return to Taiwan, or is this 'advisory' going to be in effect for eternity.

Please note that the original advisory has been removed.
God luck,
