There is one hotel, perhaps with a pool, not sure
The town is just a truck stop on the way to the Emirates...nothing of any real interest at all, or anything like a gym or nightclubs... |

Have you ever been there in your very short time in Oman?? Or are you, just like I (and I admit I was wrong, because I listened to some jaded expat.) Just listening to others.

Not kidding--there is.
The practice of commenting on places that you haven't even been to seems quite common on this board.
Sad to think of the wrong and outdated information that is past out. |

So... you either have been there... or maybe not...doesn't matter... there is no "hotel inbetween the hotel and the college off the main road".... there are two colleges in Ibri-- Ibri College of Technology and Ibri College of Applied Sciences.... both on the main road... no hotel between them...so don't know where you claim to have been.. but again, doesn't matter..just a thought, but its not usually places that are boring.. its usually the people... |

A mistake...duly noted.
Forgive me for being tired...between the college and petrol station.
Or shall we continue the trollfest? |

gym? Do you mean the stadium located betweeen IbriCT and the Oasis Hotel? Is this open to the public?
Why do you feel that Ibri is a good lacation for weekend travel? What can visiters in Ibri see? Please share your insights.
Perhaps, in the near future there will be many young, enegetic, and fun-seeking expats coming to Ibri for the excitement offered at the bar/dance club at the Oasis and all the thrilling sights to visit. |

Yes, there is a gym at the stadium and it is open to the public BUT when is it open is the question. There is also a crummy gym in town, 20 RO a month. Not the best of quality.
Ibri is 1 hour from Nizwa, Al Ain. 1.5 hours from Sohar. 2.5 hours from MCT, DXB, AUH.
And I never said there was anything to see in Ibri but dirt and construction.
There are worst places to be in Oman. I think if you actually talked to people here at both colleges they would say that they are generally happy with the work situation but crave a little more activity in town. Most people here do a day trip every weekend. And driving is something you get used to. |
