The way I see it.. we'll die then find out everything and laugh our arses off at how stupid we were not to know how simply everything worked.. or how ridiculous our theories were.

Until then.. ignorance is bliss. Cool

I think about these things every now and again. I usually end up pale, wrapped in a blanket, sat in the corner of the room gently rocking.
But what else is there than to ask these questions? Very Happy

It also, I believe, helps us to undermine some of our longheld but false presumptions about the nature of our own reality. Time is a tricky one.
If it is 1pm in London it is 10pm in Tokyo. But what time is it on the sun?

Now, I just gotta go and get my blanket.

Dear sidjameson,

"But what time is it on the sun?"

Well, one thing's for sure - it can't be nighttime.

John

I've been poor and I've been well-off. I've worked for hugely rich people (worked for Ozzy once) and the rich are no happier. Conclusion: money makes little difference.

I've lived here and there and, again, it doesn't make a lot of difference.

The way I see it there are three parts of life: the time you work, the time you sleep, and the rest of the time. So the key to happiness is having a job you like, having a roof over your head, and having someone you love and who loves you to spend the rest of the time with.

The only people I've seen who really seem genuinely happy, regardless of location and financial status, are those with a great relationship. It might not be the meaning of life, who's to say there is a meaning, but the key to getting through it all is having a good partner. That's my opinion anyway.

Mike.

Mike,

No-one here is going to dispute the truth in that. However, the very nature of the human being is to further its understanding. Naturally, that would include questioning the circumstances in which it exists. I think this inquisitiveness is healthy and stimulating, even if the theories we propose are ultimately incorrect and do not come to fruition. The very process of trying to discover 'why' is the important part and is what makes us intelligent and more importantly, 'human'. To some extent, I think this 'trying' is what makes humans happy in a more general sense.
