I think Dave is teaching in UAE. If you go to that board then there is a sticky from him called something like 'still here after all these years'

Dear gingermeggs,
Well, look at it this way - would you give three "Cheers" for the guy who owns the bar you frequent? And he charges you for the drinks (though the company is free). I see Dave's as something like a bar, without the booze - though for some it may be a case of BYOB.
Regards,
John

Yeah, I'll throw in a hip hop hurray for Dave too!

This site is a lifesaver, especially the wealth resources from 'virtual colleagues'. As teachers in a strange land, we don't have unions but we sure got Dave's!!

Well, Johnslat, unless the bloke who owns the bar is a mate..NO! I usually go to a bar for the company of friends, and usually don't give two hoots to whoever owns it. Face it, a forum like this is a valuable resource for some, but don't ever think that Dave Sperling cares about us. We just help him make money. Fair enough, I don't begrudge him that. All of us like to make money. As you well know, the censorship on this forum goes well beyond deleting the use of profanity. This post will be censored, because I bring this point up again, as others have done before me. Would you frequent a "bar" where you were not allowed to discuss certain subjects?
On the other hand, I also frequent a forum that really is like a bar...everybody says what they feel and the rules are minimal.
