They don't check authenticity of documents. Most of the time the school will fake the necessary documents if they need a teacher bad enough.

Well, yes, but one has to assume that if processes are becoming more rigorous, then this can not be relied upon forever.

I have also seen and heard of people faking the much talked about release/recommendation letter. It's a crazy world.

Really? But I thought the government office would look carefully at the company stamp and check out whether the company is SAFEA Licensed? Or is this not what they do? Or are you saying the stamp has been faked?

TEFL type certificate (not obtained online)

How many hours? I've tried searching online but as it's a recent change haven't been able to come up with much. I'm approaching the 2 year mark and I'm over 25. I'd like to make the jump to China when my contract finishes.

I'm under the impression it's 120 hours minimum - that's when it's necessary.

Wall Street in Beijing, however, for example, don't apparently say any kind of TEFL certificate is necessary for the Work Permit - the company just asks for it for their own reasons (high standards).

It seems the 2 years post-BA-degree-graduation experience is more important for the chinese government than the TEFL qualification in Beijing and Shanghai.

I want to go to Beijing. I'm being told by every recruiter that it's no longer possible without the TEFL certificate. We shall see.
