It would appear that she is sexually aware - pictures to take, places to publish. How come? Who introduced her to this environment? Someone is guilty (parents of negligence, perhaps. Possibly even of abuse. A paedophile maybe, grooming her for stardom. Someone taught her something which shouldn't be taught). However, she is also guilty according to the law. Maybe by prosecuting her, the real culprit will be brought to light, and the girl will truly get what she deserves - counselling!

The girl being charged with a crime doesn't make sense to me either. I think the parents should be held responsible and charged with possession and dissemination of child pornography, not the girl. The girl needs professional help...throwing her in a juvenile prison isn't going to help anything.

I think this is a lot more complicated than it first appears.

IMO this post and some of the follow ons is more compelling evidence than the original post. I left home at 15 and left the country at 16. I have been independent since then. No one ever 'put anything into my head' or 'gave me ideas'. I think for myself. Always have and always will. I don't adopt PC attitudes just because the media tells me to or to mollify the self-righteousness of the Herd. Just because people are force-feeding their children on the stranger danger myth and being overprotective to the point of child abuse is no excuse for treating teens like they are innocent little cherubs. They're not even close. The average teenager is more cognizent of the realities of life than some of the posters on this board. They just have a get out of jail free card for those inevitable slip ups.

No wait! We must find Someone To Blame so that our naive delusions can remain intact!

Evidently the naivety of middle age is more of a problem than the innocence of youth.

er.. no, we still make allowances for minors (at least in this country) and the stupidity and experimentation of youth, not to mention the fact that in my personal experience minors are often groomed by controlling adults into behaviour we might consider illegal.

And I'm making it clear that I don't think that 15 .. or go lower, 13 year olds should be considered terminally stupid minors incapable of rational thought. If a toddler can learn not to defecate in their own underwear or remove their clothes in public, I think a teenager should be considered even more capable of learning simple rules and made to abide them for their own benefit. Isn't it good parenting to teach your child how to be a civilized, rational, even intelligent, self-respecting adult, instead of patting them on the head and saying they're allowed to be stupid and willful until they're 19? Just imagine what might have and could have happened to this girl if no one stepped in and showed her the error of her ways...

Teenagers DO know better but CHOOSE to break the rules and giving them a way to validate their behavior is irresponsible. It's the "well everyone's doing it so it's not that bad" mentality. In this case it wasn't the parents who stepped up to the plate it was the authorities.. which is probably the saddest part about this whole thing. I know parents sometimes fail to catch their children making mistakes, but there are some too that avoid trying to involve themselves in their children's lives or just plain don't care. They shouldn't have children if they aren't going to invest time into their proper upbringing.

If this teenager was driving drunk you would have no problem saying she violated the law in more ways than one... but because it's her own body she's putting up somehow that makes it O.K. or that she's probably suffering from some hollywood, adolescent cliche. Sorry... I don't buy it.
