The visa run situation technically ended in 2009. |
actually, it ended in November of 2007....but it's loosely enforced.

2 runs to Germany for me till I finally got all my paperwork finalized (just under the gun before they did away with border checks). |

Ummm... I wouldn't get too excited about this "loophole". Everyone has their own experiences and stories of course. I have been asked for my residency card at the Warsaw airport when leaving for the States. They looked through my stamped-up passport and wanted to see the last entry stamp. I whipped out my res. card and they shuffled me through the gate no problem. I definitely wouldn't take the border run stories as rule. You never know when or where someone will look at your stamps more carefully. Applying for my latest residency card I needed copies of ALL passport pages to attach to the list of documents. You never know when you will need to show your history of travel in and out of the country or when it could come back to bite you. |
Would getting a new passport help at all? I mean, if you had border hopped in the past, but now have a residency card.

That would be an interesting experiment--new passport every three months. Probably it would just make it easier for them to find your last stamp. Once, when I forgot my residency card and was changing planes in Amsterdam, as the borderguard was fumbling through the pages for a minute or so, I simply told him the truth and he also sent me along. It seems as though no one really wants to deal with the hassle of reporting overstayed visas at a busy airport. You never know though... |

No, if you had border hopped in the past, but now were there legally. Passport every three months, I'm not sure if any countries would do that. I had an issue getting a new passport when my old one was still valid for about 5 years. |

Update for you all.
I have been accepted for a teaching position in Istanbul Turkey.
I'm going out today to apply to schools around Rynek in person today.
I'm still waiting to hear back about the results of my interview with Wattsenglish in Czech Republic. I'm not sure I can get a visa in time for them though.
So that's the low down of my job search so far. I was kinda lazy my first week here as I wasn't feeling so good and stayed in. Had a nasty run in with a mugger. (Nothing serious lost or injured, just pride and my wallet was destroyed). |

And, I was just offered a 2 week summercamp position close to Prague for 6000CZK or $346 Gross a week. Then I'll hitchhike down to Turkey and begin looking for accomodation for the job that starts Sept. 12th.
I did it...not exactly IN the EU, but next year I definately will be unless I fall in love with my job in Istanbul. Either way I'll be getting the CELTA this year to make sure I have more opportunities.
Eye of the Tiger.
Thanks for all of your advices and support |

Have the buses stopped running? It shouldn't cost too much. |

I've been hitch-hiking for the past 2 months. You meet the most interesting people this way, and the hitch-hiking from Czech to Istanbul is really easy. Plus, I'll be borrowing money once i'm in istanbul because now I have $30 to my name with nothing in the bank. So I'll be cutting costs every which way for the first month. |

I've never been interested in the hitching thing myself. Be careful sir! Good luck with everything. |
