Interesting stuff Great Wall.
For the OP can you comment on how South Koreans in say Qingdao on expat terms would regard a fellow Korean whose spouse was a 'lowly' FT?
Will money trump nationality? |

Korean schools and hospitals in Qingdao: the community there is so big
I wouldn't be surprised if it is the largest Korean community outside of
Korea.
Try a school there. Good luck. |

I'm sure the OP thought that getting a uni job in China is as difficult as it is in Korea. Also, the pay can't compare! (China uni pay is pretty low compared to Korea.) |

Depends on the individual, as per back at home.
Snobby people would regard them as trash; ordinary people would regard them as ordinary; poor South Koreans running away from the ROK would see them as potential stepping stone or a 'higher' friend.
I can't generalize. Some rich South Koreans might see her as the key to getting their kid some decent English pronunciation. Some may envy her.
Can't really answer this one, sorry. |

MrWSlee indicates a big Korean population in Qingdao.
I was there for a year and didn't notice the presence that much.
Still that NE coastal area seems to be the main Korean location. |

maybe it's a little prestigious until you accidentally tell a local your salary and they laugh at you |
Hehe. I like this.
For the OP, I second what another poster said: the native Korean teachers I've known at my schools all used Chinese as the language of instruction. |
