If it's "fun" you experience in Saudi...it's the fun that you make for yourself. It's not socially-sanctioned fun.

And if you are are having 'fun' in Saudi Arabia, you are likely doing something wrong (by Saudi standards). |

| The only fun things to do in Saudi is eating and shopping. The malls get boring after a few visits and then you really have to be creative to have fun. One can always download and watch movies, but that can also get boring after a while. |

To be honest, a place where I couldnt go out sounds like heaven to me. I love to read, sew, embroider and do other kinds of crafts that are time consuming and that I seem to never have time for. When I lived in Wisconsin I used to love to get snowed in for just that reason. Maybe my fun is boring fun, but I think I could get into it. But thats just me. Even when I was younger I was never a party/bar type of person, Ive always prefered the company of one or two good friends to hoards of people I dont know. |

Dear BadBeagleBad,
The type of personality who would do well in Pelican Bay ( a link for those unfamiliar with that facility)
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/02/opinion/cruel-isolation-of-prisoners.html
or on an extended voyage to the nearest star system is the kind who's also likely to tolerate Saudi best.
Being "self-contained," not needing many outside sources for "fun," these serve one well there.

"Fun" is, as John stated earlier, subjective, but, I guess, watching a car rust can be "fun".

I clearly pointed out that I meant "fun" in the social sense. What you, obviously, consider fun, I don't think, could be categorized as such.
Now, what I'm doing in my avatar is, definitely, fun!!!

Well, I stole it...with permission, copied it to photobucket to make sure that I "owned" it and then right-clicked, went to the properties at the bottom of the menu, and then, copied and pasted it into the box provided at the bottom of "Profile".
Or, are you just taking a pi$$?

I love it too... but I'm suspecting that it might be photoshopped.

Nope! I have it on good authority that the photographer was watching a sheep and I hopping over each other. He explained to me that he didn't take a photo of the sheep hopping over me as it would seem "implausible".

Oh yes, I forgot to add that one. I've actually downloaded a few e-books to last me for a few months for the upcoming year while I'm there
Note that Jarir bookstore over there has a small selection of English books, nothing compared to what we have back home. It is better to stock up while you're in your home country. |
