I'll concede that if one has little else relevant to offer (perhaps one's first EFL job) then adding some very succinct travel info at the end of the CV under 'hobbies and interests' or whatever might be helpful in a limited way.
Again, I wouldn't give any credence to obvious tourist destinations, but especially if a candidate has made several visits to the area he/she is applying to work in, OK. The travel experience might help - or it might hurt, but as an interviewer, I might ask about it
However, again, anyone doing hiring shouldn't (and I think usually won't) give travel any really serious look when considering the CV. Given two candidates with otherwise entirely equal qualifications, I'd also choose the one who has some travel experience over one who didn't, but I just don't think it gives anyone a serious edge, for all the reasons people have mentioned above. |
