Quite a few chips on your shoulder. I cannot guess who you are and what could make you think this. But it's interesting what you wrote, and how:

Thus phrased, it's actually perfect. Theirs are hardly ever "absolute lies".

No chips. Check with people who were there and who were not on his little list of sycophants or the very few he actually helped, and you will find I am actually understating things.

With no real leadership and management, you know what rises to the top, and I sure don't mean cream.

I was there from the day he was promoted and I should not like to consider myself a sycophant. I know many others who think like me, and they are not underhanded lackeys either (exactly the kind of people he loathes, besides - and I do too).

I heard his side of the story on issues he actually had with a few colleagues; I didn't hear the others' sides, true, and I do concur that on occasions he may come off a bit... aggressively Smile I also agree that the lack of leadership and management contributed to his isolation and frustrated reaction; but he's a very generous and genuine person - and NEVER racist. If you want to allege differently, state your personal case in detail, possibly in a different thread (this might be closed soon, otherwise).

So sad to hear this - I hope things are better (in Nizwa and for thise who have left) this year.

As you say, s___ floats and I've seen it so often. There are only two options - wait it out to see if sanity prevails or leave.

He refused to step down and fought to hang on to the end.

And this will be my last exception: what I know is that at some point he went to the director and requested to step down, but he was half forced, half besought to stay on until a substitute could be found. He was in charge for no longer than a semester in total.

Well, I for one, have a bit of a soft spot for management, as may be seen on various other threads. It is most often a thankless job which creates many enemies, real and perceived. A position with lots of responsibility but often little control, herding cats one day, putting out fires the next.

Having had a stint in such a role, I can say it was difficult and has helped to form my current opinions about the state of ELT in the GCC. The saving grace has been the many good and great students and the few good and great colleagues.

Oh, lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala
Hands over ears
Enough
Would you just give it a rest.
How long exactly is this Nizwa thing going to go on?
Do you actually think what you write here will affect any single thing in Oman??
Are you insane or just bored and dissatisfied with yourself and your life.
Sort yourself out, quit your whinging and move on.
Everybody else has.

Yes! You are right, what a waste of lives, and time, making no improvement to the world as a whole. That's it, I'm putting the band back together! I've seen the light! Idea

Who knows. But it is a nasty turn, and I have bowed out. As I have said all along, I hope things are better there. But if this is a reflection of the general mood, I would say there is a ways yet to go.
