If you dismiss Bahrain as a prime tourist spot, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion.

But you cannot dismiss the Philippines. The PI truly is a prime tourist destination.

In that lavish land...the beautiful beaches of Boracay and Pagudpud, the floating restaurant called Isdaan, the serene and scenic resort of Villa Escudero, the magnificent Mount Samat, the incredibly big and breathtaking Mall of Asia, the wondrous Windmills of Banqui, the fantastic and family-friendly Enchanted Kingdom, the awesome Angeles City, the various SM and Robinsons malls, etc.

With affordable prices, friendly people and a warm climate - it's perfect!

And, never forget the ne'er-do-wells who live in the landfills that surround Manila!

Out of that human tragedy, arose the world's greatest boxer -- Manny Pacquiao!

Similarly, out of brutal occupation and subjugation -- the Philippines has become a prime tourist spot...

Very interesting comments...many which have missed the point...supporting the people of Bahrain.

It must not be easy for any expats to be teaching in Bahrain. I would find it difficult....to keep my mouth shut and not get involved.

About my booze comment...I would say anybody working there probably would need some alcohol...to sooth the pain!

From one old revolutionary, I admire the will and determination of the people in ALL of these revolutions going on in the Arab world.

I really appreciate Dave's ESL FORUM...it really helps to have these kinds of venues to express and exchange opinions.

I hope ALL of the people will eventually win and overthrow these antiquated old military dictatorships, get some justice and and some freedom for themselves...surely making this a better world for everybody to live in!

Sooner or later, the Arab Spring will come to Bahrain.

When that happens, Bahrain will no longer be a prime tourist spot.

I just hope the Arab Spring doesn't turn into the summer of our discontent.

A summer of discontent?

It may simmer and boil over. It could get worse...

Bahrain needs a 1793 of its very own. Could that be what scares the ruling family ?
