Thanks for all the info. Sounds like some good possibilities.

A logistical question: Traveling from Cancn, is it possible to come in from a northerly direction, or do I need to go through Oaxaca City? And how far is it from Huajuapan to Morelia?

There is also a small private "university" (a for-profit) and there was an American man who was uh, let's say lying low, in Huajuapan for a couple of years who worked there. I think they only paid him about 80 pesos an hour. But it should be more now due to inflation. A couple of private prepas are also a possiblity.

From Cancun it is possible to go via Villahermosa to Tehuacan and then back track down to Huajuapan, That would be the fastest route--but Oaxaca City is also well worth the visit if you haven't been. I saw an add resently for a job at the Universidad Regional Sureste there, which was also hourly.

Oh and Morelia--far. Sad The fastes route is 11 hours, Huajuapan-TAPO-Mexico Oriente-Morelia. The senic route would be Huajuapan, Cuatla, Cuernavaca, Toluca, Morelia, which I've done by car--beautiful, but that's like a day in each city!

Can anyone help me with travel from Morelia to Huajuapan, staying overnight in DF? I need to know which bus station to go to in DF, north and south being the apparent choices. Then I need to know where to get a bus or shuttle from DF, preferably the same station.

The buses to Huajuapan only leave from TAPO. The Line is Cristobal Colon, and I think there are two ADO runs a day, and there are many SUR departures, but I don't recommend those as they take a really looooong time.

From Morelia to DF you can go Orriente or Norte, so you are going to need to change stations.
It's not difficult to go from Orriente to Poniente (TAPO) on the metro. If I remember right Norte to TAPO requires two changes and one really long walk at one of the stations.

Checking my Metro map, I see that if you arrive at the Terminal Central Poniente (not Oriente), you can take the Pink Line (#1) directly to TAPO. It's 13 stops till you get off at San Lzaro. You'll be right next to Terminal TAPO. If you arrive at Terminal Central del Norte, it's more complicated. Rather than changing twice, you can take the Yellow Line (#5) 7 stops to Oceania and then change to the Dark Green Line (#Cool and go 3 stops to San Lzaro.

Ah, yes the dark green line. I've never taken that yet, as it's new. New meaning I haven't travelled much in the last 7 years! I still think of San Lazaro as being only pink. Embarassed

No need to blush, MotherF. The only way I discovered the existence of the Dark Green Line was by looking at a Metro map. I've never taken it myself.
