According to my sources, Saturday school is rotated among the faculty so they only come once or twice per school year. Apparently, this was explained during the interview process. Some teachers will happily work those extra two days a year, with the compensation package provided, as it beats being unemployed or under-employed as so many teachers are facing.

Or you can choose to work for one the many (i.e., majority of) schools and colleges that don't force you to come in at weekends and do a day's unpaid and irrelevant work.

Really, if your choice is only between IAT and unemployment, you're probably just the sort of material that IAT are looking for - teachers with low self-esteem and limited experience and/or qualifications.

Otherwise, just steer clear of the place.

Really? You think the only reason a person would choose to work at a school that you apparently couldn't handle is due to low self esteem or inexperience? Really?
You can't conceive that although there are several posts that have said that IAT has made some improvements, or has different teachers and administration that there have been positive changes?
You can't conceive that some teachers may choose to work in an environment that might be working at bettering itself?
You can't conceive that some teachers may choose to start a ME career with IAT?

I know at least six who did just that. And I know of at least 5 others who had ME careers and considered this to be the position that they wanted, rather than had to take.
IAT has changed, my friend. Teachers are choosing to work at IAT, despite other offers. I stand by my sources. After all, I know them.

Whoa, hold on there. I think you're guilty of jumping to several mistaken conclusions.

Firstly, I have never worked there, but I know a good handful of people who have. Those are my sources, and they all paint a rather nagative picture of the place.

Secondly, although there have been made apparent improvements, whether these positive changes will be long-lasting and enough to bring IAT up to standard is not clear at the moment.

As for starting a ME career at IAT, that's probably the best thing you can say about the place. Most of my contacts have stressed the NEED to move on (or out/away) after the experience.

So I stand by my sources too. Clearly they're not the same as yours!

I wonder if a fresh coat of paint on the walls of Hell would be considered an "improvment" by some.

It's all subjective!

Quote:
At IAT AD, our American principal got fired. Then she got brought back as Administrative vice-principal with the promise that her contract would be honoured. Then she got fired again. She is out on sick leave.

We got a new female principal. She resigned within a month.

Our Academic vice-principal (American) was fired. She was told there was no need for her as her job no longer existed, empty your desk and leave within the month.

Now we have a male Arab principal.

We also have a female Arab vice-principal.

We had a North American male teacher do a runner. There was a shouting match between him and a parent and he simply went to the airport and left the Emirates.

Any takers???

As with any unsourced quote, i will ask for a reference. Where did this come from? I don't see it in the thread and i can't find it anywhere using a simple google search. Where did this reference and quote come from?

From an inmate. I was asked to protect the author's identity. Wouldn't be better to have an apologist refute? They abound in such insitiutions such as the one that you work for.

It's not s surprising set of developments in a society of such "educational innovation!"
