hey
I just wanna say thanks to the people on the board who had some real suggestions for where to look...
I've never understood why there is so much negativity on Dave's especially in the China section...seriously why are some of you so bitter? I'm unemployed and I'm not as bitter some of you...This is part of the reason that I don't post as much on here anymore.
It's sad really, Dave Sperling has set up something really cool here, a neat little meeting point for people like us but some of you just have to ruin that for the chance to make a snide comment. Why? I don't understand at all...If what you re after is making fun people online why not just go on 4chan or something why not just leave Dave's for people who want to discuss ESL related stuff with a positive attitude.
{...}but maybe you can see why I had such a hard time and have a little sympathy instead of the constant river of negativity on here. Let's try to be positive there is no need to be rude to people on here especially people you don't even know. Try to walk in other people's shoes a little bit, try to see the world from their perspective. I have a hard time believing anyone on here 'wants' to be a bad teacher or 'wants' problems with their employer. We are all just people trying very hard to do the best we can, to work the jobs we can get, live in a foreign country and maybe save a little money. Maybe I am naive to think this way but for me the alternative (being negative and assuming the worst of people) is just not acceptable. |
I've read these forums when there was too much sniping and too many urinating contests. This isn't one of those times. You were given a lot of attention and some good ideas, and very little negativity, especially considering the amount of information you provided. Even with this last post. What does the size of the company running language schools have to do with the chances of being fired? I've worked for companies I didn't like and stuck it out until I could find something else. I've also been fired from a job (thankfully long ago). It hurts but it happens.
Maybe you should lick your wounds a bit longer and then consider some of the suggestions provided to you. You don't seem to be able yet to have some perspective about it. If you did, you wouldn't question why everyone isn't in your corner, no questions asked. Good luck. |

| The original post seems more than a bit trollish, intended to incite rather to inform or to seek help. The responses, I think, are understandable, given the nature of the original post. |
