| Hey Irish I think you'll have a blast. Yeah, summer school sounds a shitty prospect, especially for those of us who get paid to do nothing during that time ... but the pay sounds good and Sichuan food is the best in China, or so I've heard (from Chinese people living in other provinces, so I take that to heart). Honestly I've found that teaching college here is rather like I imagined teaching high school (or middle school) would be back in the States. I wonder what your students will be like? But they can't possibly be any more difficult than college students, so you should have a good time. Welcome to China! |

| Hey! Nice pics! Where's the 5 million cars and bicycles? I think I'm a bit jealous. The streets look clean and there is actually parking off to the sides of the street (instead of on the sidewalk). The population of this city is only slightly bigger than my home town of Topeka, Kansas in the states. Makes me feel a little homesick. Good luck and have fun. |

Cheers guys, I know I am very lucky to have found this city I think. I was offered a few jobs in some of the poorer provinces like Anhui and Shaanxi and even though the cities were much bigger than this one I couldnt find pics of info for love nor money. Ya'an looks a cracking little city. Like what I was used to in Borneo but among mountains.
I know the summer school is going to be hell but hey Ive done worse, a months pay for 2 weeks full on work is ok. I mean I worked in a nightclub dealing with violent and drunk idiots and having to work at 100mph to keep the floor clean, bar stocked, people served, djs happy etc so if I can manage that i'm sure i'll manage for 2 weeks and then I get a month of to travel and acclimatise. I cannot wait |
