And I was that co-worker...
Thanks to a half drunken night of playing pool with Largy, we decided to go to the "Crazy Women's Place" (explain later) and have a bita grub.
I was merry and Largy was off his freaking rocka! We order what we thought was Duck. It tasted GORGEOUS but turned out to be Fido Food!
I almost vomitted at the idea.
Next time Largy, I'll stay sober and remember that b l o o d y book!!!

What is appalling is the preparatory process. Dogs are hung by their hind legs and whipped as the ensuing adrenaline rush in the tortured dog apparently gives the meat a better flavour.

There are some dogs in this neighbourhood who this would be too good for |
I suspect there are dogs like that everywhere. I can't even take back streets home because of four-legged insecurity systems that freak out and wake up the whole street even if I walk in the middle of the road. They start a chain reaction and in seconds there are a dozen dogs barking their lungs out in the wee small hours. |

"Cultural Relativism" is the cri de coeur these days.
However there are two things that most of these "cultural relativists" from the decadent West are not neutral about.
One is polygamy.
The other is the consumption by humans of the flesh of the species canis.
Why ? |

| Accidentally bought dolphin steaks at a fish market twice. I asked the lady what kind of fish it was and she told me it was tuna. I bought it, and cooked it up. It was kind of "meaty" but tasted fishy. I went back a second time and bought more. A friend who came over for dinner told me what it was. I didn't buy any more. I wonder why the fish lady told me it was tuna? (Oh, this was in S. Korea.) |
It might have been dolphin fish, which is not the same as dolphin. I have had dolphin fish in Japanese restaurants. |

There are not many dogs in the streets of Phnom Penh. Foreigners bring in their healthy well-fed furry dogs, but they dont remain dog owners for long.
Thre aer a lot of Vietnamese in Phnom Penh. Say no more. |

I have been in the garden today I couldn't take it any longer and just had to come in. The blood-curdling screams and squeals as I ripped out the spring onions from the bosom of their family and chewed them down while the sap was still dripping from their stems.
Tomorrow I shall thin out the carrots. They know I am coming it was something defeatist in their movement as they tried to hide behind each other at the other end of the row. Even the garlic was crying and they have at least another 2 months to live. And people keep telling me "they don't feel a thing " and they are not conscious" " They can't think" But I know, and that is what hurts the most. I have known them since they were seeds. |

Man's best friend does not equal man's best fondue. (I couldn't resist)
Anything that rates as a household pet usually stays off the plate.
