Names, of course, can't be mentioned. But IS is not the only poster here who has commented about this manager over the years.

Well, it was meant to be rhetorical as to characterize it as a "general character attack", IMHO, is a bit OTT!
BTW, it depends on what the meaning of IS is! |
I understand that you are talking about the director of the FP. What I intended was a request for you to share an example or two of your claims. I am not doubting you. I just want to understand what you mean beyond a general smear campaign against this guy. |
Here we go again! Just when I thought OTT had been hit! When I refute an accusation of "general character attack" that you decide to avoid, you change tactic and accuse me of a "general smear campaign"! Do you understand the general understanding by an educated person of what constitutes a "campaign"?
Have you seen anyone willing to come to his defense except that of a job seeker?
I'll tell you what. You seem to be of his ilk, so take the interview and accept his inevitable offer. You seem to deserve each other.
It's my last word on the matter! |
Relax man! Don't take thing so far and personal. I just wanted to hear examples rather than general accusations. I think that is a reasonable request.
I am on here like everyone else. I want to share and recieve information that might be helpful. |

Oh please battleship... back to that old hobby horse. People who are fired will normally place all the blame on "management." In a department as large as QU, there will always be those who do and those who don't get along with their managers. The big cut in teachers was many years ago now and most of my friends there considered that much deadwood was unloaded. Since that time, the attrition rate for teachers has been the same as for most average Foundations programs in the Gulf. TEFLers are often gypsies who move on after a contract or two.
And why wouldn't managers enjoy a trip to do interviews? They all stay at the main hotel where TESOL is held... and they are always nice hotels. (stayed in them when I attended it too - as a mere teacher attending) All the managers of all the major Gulf universities are there... staying in the same hotel... hiring an equivalent number of teachers.

My interview was definitely strange. They didn't ask too many questions about my teaching more interested on whether I was a team player. I got the impression the one guy was a an ex-Marine or ex-serviceman. |

Probably like any interview, it depends on the interviewer him or herself. Personalities vary. I give my recruiters an interview scaffolding to follow to be as consistent as possible. |
