Would you care to translate that? Why are you sorry?

ah... not such a fan of veiled sentiments then |
One of those who is unable to accept single professional women perhaps? Lots of misogynists head to Saudi so that they can only hang out with their fellow males.
Or it could be that s/he doesn't speak English well... I am certainly not his/her or anyone's "sister.

I am a single, non-muslim woman and I've just been hired to teach in Medinah. I have been researching and networking for several days now but still don't have enough info so I would also like to hear back from anyone who knows anything about someone like me living in Medinah.
One recruiter told me that I wouldn't be allowed to go anywhere without a male escort. He told me that shopping, restaurants, salons, grocery stores would all be off limits because I'm not a muslim.
BUT... I have spoken with several credible sources now who have both told me that Medinah is a beautiful, friendly city filled with lots of different people and that I will be able to get around just fine.
I am still waiting on all my networking sources but I'm feeling better about moving there now. The weird thing is that there isn't a lot of stuff on the Internet about non-muslim, single females living there. |
Just out of interest do you have a masters degree and where did you apply? |

| Both Medina and Mecca ("Makkah" to the Salafists and Wahabis) are CLOSED to non-muslims. You would not be able to go to the city for shopping or to visit a doctor ! DO NOT GO THERE ! |

Who's been telling you this stuff? You won't even as much as be able to set foot in Medinah, period, end of sentence, end of story. |

plumpy nut, either read the thread, or don't post wrong info. Read the posts by jaffa and Wilsonthefarmer on the first page.
The airport and the university are outside the "haram" (sacred) limits of the city, so they are open to all. But as many have said, there is not much outside the sacred limits, so you will basically have no life and won't be able to go anywhere. |

The information is relevant and not wrong. I hope they have a decent market at her place of employment. When I worked at SWCC in Jubail, the plant had at least 1500 or more employees staying at the compounds at SWCC and they had a decent market, , also a couple of restaurants that opened when they felt like opening, but no clothing stores. You couldn't even find a pair of socks there. |
