@Glenski...Then I'll have to learn Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. Who wants to tutor me?
I like Steiner's idea, actually. Shock them into submission. |

| Caper, borrow a $100 dollar bill of a student and ask if you can rip it into 100 pieces. They will quickly agree that money is uncountable |

Caper,
Put their money on the table. count the coins and the paper. Q/A how many coins, how much paper, how much money. how much do you want back? They pay attention when it's their money. |

Dearest Capergirl,
You are cordially invited to come teach at my present "college". I can assure you the at this "college", you will almost never be afflicted with such arguments about grammar. Here they have been properly educated to believe that grammar is just another mythological dragon that needs to be slain by such a shieldmaiden as yourself.
Of course, you will need to teach them why a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a period. They will insist that their high school book and their high school teacher never did it that way.
Of course you can try explaining that their high school english teacher never spoke english in class, the book they learned from is mostly in Chinese, but it doesn't sem to help.
You have my condolences |
